Smoke Alarms

Safety Switch (RCD’s)

Most commonly know as a Safety Switch an RCD (Residual Current Device) is designed to help prevent electrocution. The RCD monitors the current flow to ensure it is equal in the neutral and active wires within the protected circuits / appliances. If it detects an imbalance, fault, known as leakage it immediately (less than 30 milliseconds) shuts down supply to the effected circuits. These devices need to be tested periodically to ensure they work to there designed purpose. We check both the mechanical operation of the devices, by means of test button and also test the tripping current and tripping time of the device. Our Electrical tradesman can provide you with a report outlining what protective devices you have or require, best practice advice to ensure your safety and provide compliance testing of your devices. This service can be standalone or packaged into a Home Safety Service, to incorporate other items such as our Smoke Alarms testing/servicing and Home Electrical safety checks.
